Once we had our breakfast finished, it was time to hop on the bus and get ready for a packed day of training. We started the day with an indoor flexibility themed session which compiled of yoga sequences, and by the end, we were literally stretched to our limits! We soon realised that we are definitely not as "bendy" as we'd like to think. It was a useful session and interesting to note their approach to training.
We had a quick break afterwards before moving on to a short circuit in the gym to get us warmed up for our first spinning class as a group. Spin class is a combination of stationary bikes being used in a series of intense intervals to raise the heart rate, burn fat and test our levels of endurance. With our legs feeling like jelly after the class, it was finally time for us to get changed and then enjoy our lunch at the cafeteria. Here we got a chance to talk about what each of us found difficult and reflected on what we had learned from the classes today. We were so hungry after our session, it was hard to hold back from eating our lunch! The day at the training centre came to a close with us watching a football match hosted by the level 6 students that we had trained with earlier this week. It was good to get to see the level of football our team will be up against later in our trip, and the standard of coaching they are provided with. It helps in regards to our approach when we return home after this placement. Time to for us to rest up now, and see what tomorrow has in store for us. -Jason

Today we left at 9:30am for a trip to the famous Rangers Football club. I was very excited as I am a huge fan of youth development in football and this was a fantastic opportunity to see some of their facilities and approaches to training and development of underage players. We got to meet some of the background staff of the Rangers club. We even got a chance to meet the u17 Rangers football team and watch them train which was so interesting. At around 12:15pm we left the rangers training facility and went to the Broadwood Stadium for some lunch and training. We got our lunch and then went to the gym where we were shown some useful techniques that will prove useful to us all. We stayed there for an hour and then went home. Gary, Antony, Brian, Jason and myself went to the gym and the pool across the road from where we are staying. Its nice that we have access to these facilities. I was a small bit disappointed that we didn't play any football after we went to the Rangers training facility, however all in all it was a great day and a great experience to witness one of the biggest clubs in the world and how operate on a daily basis.
-Mark Today we got picked up at 9:30am by mini-van and we were brought to Clyde FC. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a member of staff who showed us around the whole stadium and their facilities which was very interesting. After that we were shown the gym and then we were shown how to use the equipment in a safe manner. These are techniques that we can use when we return home also. After this we were shown the pitch and shown some training drills and this allowed us to become more confident on the ball as we were practicing for a match. It was brilliant to get to use such great facilities. The drills that we completed included- ball control, passing and crossing, and one touch shooting, as well as shooting in front of goal. These skills and guidance from the coaches will help us with our coaching awareness and understanding. After this we played a match and this allowed us to put the skills we learned into practice. Playing in a match also allowed us to work on our team leadership as well as our communication skills. Overall it was a very productive day.
-Michael Today our day started out with a meeting at 12.30pm with Johnny our teacher from GTI. It was an outdoor orientation class where Johnny explained the expectation to us in regards to the placement and what he hoped that we would take away from the overall experience. He also went through the plan for our first days placement in New College Lanarkshire. We will be getting the bus tomorrow at 9.30am to start our first proper day of work experience. It is really exciting to start this Erasmus work experience placement.
After the orientation class, we went to get some group pictures outside some of the sites on offer in Glasgow. Once we were familiar with the city layout, we went our separate ways and explored more of the city centre and what it had to offer. We made a plan to meet at 6pm to go to Nandos to get some food and to catch up on the day and being in a new city. While waiting for food, myself and 3 others decided to go on the amusement ride called 'The Extreme', which was so much fun. We finished up at Nandos, and brought our plates back up to the counter, and it was so interesting to note that one of the waitresses said to us “no one has ever done this before”, she was in complete shock! We went back to the apartments to rest and get ready for our first day tomorrow. - Dean Today was the first day of our Erasmus+ work placement. We met at Knock Airport at 3:30pm to check in for our 5.10pm flight. We arrived in Edinburgh at 6.05pm (20 mins ahead of schedule) before travelling by taxi to our accommodation, which was an additional 45 minutes away from the airport. We arrived at the Glasgow lofts apartments at 7:30pm. The quality of the accommodation is excellent to say the least. We took time to go to our rooms and settle in and met as a group at 8:15pm to walk into town and grab a bite to eat together. After much debate about the different restaurants and places to eat we all agreed on the "world buffet" restaurant - £12.99 for all you can eat which turned out to be a bargain as the food far exceeded the price. After our tea, we then headed back to the apartments and went back to our rooms and to reflect on the journey and think about the week ahead. I'm looking forward to starting fresh tomorrow and settling in to the two week work placement in this beautiful city.
